Change the world

Located in Zwide Township, Garrett was founded in 1952 and currently consists of 817 learners from Grade R to Grade 7.

Being a poor and underprivileged school, Garrett Primary has been detrimentally affected by the scarcity of sports equipment and facilities for the provision of physical education and extramural sport at the school.

The sporting fields are in very poor condition, the old tennis/netball court is derelict and there is no structured physical education at the school.

Our intervention occured in two phases. Firstly, we installed a circuit as well as a few painted games.

Secondly, we renovated their storeroom, installed soccernets and completed the painted games.

We would like to thank our generous sponsors. Without them, none of this would have been possible. We hope to have made a small difference in each of the children’s lives and we have walked away from this project not only having learnt valuable life lessons ourselves but also with a feeling of accomplishment that could never be achieved in a classroom.

Hopefully the current and future students at Garrett Primary will benefit from the work put in over 2014.We would like to extend our gratitude and thanks again, on behalf of Garrett Primary, the HMS students and Proffesor Walter, to the sponsors for their support of the PasSPORT to Health project:
